A client recently told me a delivery horror story that starts with a rainy day and a pristine, white fabric couch, and ends as a masterclass in realizing you’re dating the wrong person.
The Audacity
The delivery team was struggling to get the heavy white sofa into her house through a downpour. Frustrated, they asked to set it directly onto the wet, muddy ground.
Naturally, my client objected and asked them to put something down first to protect the fabric. Instead of a professional reply, the delivery man turned to her partner at the time and said:
"Mate, sort her out, will ya."
The ultimate "bro-alliance" move. But the real kicker? The partner didn't say a word. He didn't defend her, didn't call out the disrespect, and didn't back up her incredibly reasonable request.
Needless to say... they are no longer together.
The story does have a semi-happy ending. The movers eventually rammed the couch inside, damaging it in the process. My client complained, and the owner of the company actually showed up at her house personally to apologize and arrange for the repairs.
Sometimes, the universe sends you a red flag disguised as a logistics nightmare.
My client ended up with a beautifully repaired sofa, a great story, and—most importantly—spared herself a lifetime with a partner who wouldn't stand up for her when the rain started pouring.
If he won't back you up over a muddy couch, he’s definitely not going to have your back when the real storms of life hit. Sort that out, will ya!
