Celebrating the Cowboys of our Time! YeeHaw!
Welcome to the Hall of Fame, where we have gathered stories of Cowboy trades to remind us of why we do things differently at Orty Renovations and to help people realise, you are not alone! Mistakes happen, and things don't go as planned in the dynamic world of renovations - every home is different - but I always say, it is how a person reacts and rectifies their mistake or deals with a problem that removes them from our hall of fame.
The Boiler Man Who Planned My Future
"When I was seventeen, my mum asked me to deal with the boiler repair man while she was out. He came over, I took him to the boiler and did the standard thing of asking if he wanted a cuppa. He asked for tea, I made it and when I handed it to him he said, "You'll make a good wife someday."
I was so embarrassed, I nervously said, "I hope not." Then, felt so uncomfortable, I hid in my room until my mum came home. 🫣"

Drill the Hole, Not My Patience
"I renovated my own bathroom, but there were two jobs I didn't have the tools or expertise to do myself. One of them was drilling a hole into the wall for the drain pipe to go from above the floor to under it. To hire the tool was the same price as getting someone in to do the work. While here, the guy was looking around, canvassing for other work - not too bothered about that, people have to make a living - but he was really pushy on fitting an extractor fan. I politely said not yet as we weren't yet sure if we were going to cover all the walls in panels and a fan is easy enough to retro-fit.
To this, he said, "can you get your husband for me, so that I can explain it to him."
I was so angry, I said my husband is busy and if he was done with the work, I will show him out." 😤
